5. Shrimp N Stuff — the fast fried classic
Shrimp N Stuff is counter-order, number-called, food-in-ten-minutes seafood that’s been feeding the island since 1976. Budget: 45 minutes total. The po-boy travels well if you’re eating in the parking lot like a professional.
6. Rudy & Paco — the night-before dinner
Don’t try Rudy & Paco on boarding day — it deserves better. This is the night-before reservation: plantain-crusted fish, serious steaks, next door to the 1894 Opera House. Budget: the whole evening, on purpose.
