If you rented a beach house past the end of the Seawall, Nate’s is your local. It’s the West End’s reliable seafood-and-a-beer room: raw oysters, fried shrimp, burgers for the holdouts, and a bar that knows most of the room by name from March to September.
What it costs: Plates $13–24. Oyster specials on weekdays are the sleeper deal.
When to go: Sunset works — you’re minutes from San Luis Pass for the actual show. Kitchen keeps normal hours, so don’t roll in at 9:30 expecting miracles.
Who it’s for: Beach-house crews who don’t want to drive 30 minutes back to town, families with sandy kids, fishermen coming off the pass.
When to skip: If you’re staying downtown, it’s not destination dining — it’s the right place when you’re already out west, which is exactly the point.
